The event will kick off with IGN Expo, a 3 part series of announcement shows that are meant to rival the press conferences and long-form streams of the past. IGN is hoping that its month-long celebration of gaming, which is a tighter schedule than similar endeavors this year, will tantalize fans and the industry with new games and game updates. The series is the latest in an ever-growing list of events in a post-E3 world. The schedule (times TBD) includes indie and Triple-A games, interviews with “icons” and charity streams. IGN has revealed the schedule for its Summer of Gaming series of events, and it’s a doozy.

Celebrity Island Tours will be a day-long live stream on Twitch (with VOD available later on YouTube) hosted by Gary Whitta ( Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Second, Animal Crossing: Celebrity Island Tours will show off the Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands of celebrities like Felicia Day, Matthew Mercer, Jessica Chobot, and more. This will be a chance for the world’s greatest speedrunners to try to break world records. First, they’ll be hosting the Speedrunner Countdown Challenge at the start of every day. They have two ways they’re going to do this. In addition to getting us the latest big gaming news, IGN is using the time to raise money for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Of course, IGN will also be hosting IGN Expo which will be a publisher and developer showcase and interviews with gaming icons like David Hayter, the original voice of Solid Snake. This event is being held digitally on YouTube, Twitch, and more for absolutely free, and we’ll get the latest on Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, and much more. IGN is hosting the Summer of Gaming Festival next month to offer a chance for developers to show off world premieres and announce new titles after the cancellation of E3.
